Salmon Jerky Dog Treats
A great way to give your dog omega-3's for its coat and skin, as well as many other nutrients.
Equipment
- Dehydrator Please use the timing and temperature for your dehydrator. It may be different than what is listed here.
Ingredients
- Fresh or Frozen Salmon If using frozen, you will need to let it thaw before dehydrating.
Instructions
- 1.) Cut salmon into 2-3 inch strips, about 1/2 wide. Keep skin on as it contains a lot of oil and nutrients.
- 2.) Lay salmon pieces out on racks of dehydrator. Make sure they are not touching or crowding each other. Dehydrate at 145 degrees for 6-8 hours, or until done.
- 3.) Check after about 5 hours to see how they are doing. You will want these to be like Jerky. They will not be dried out because of the oil from the skin.
- 4.) After cooling, store in a mason jar, or an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will keep for 2-3 weeks in fridge. Put some in the freezer if you need them to last several months or if you need to go out of town.
